This is going to be a night of wax and sax with special DJs Double K (Parkdale Funk, Soul Power, Shindig, Funky Fridays CIUT) and General Eclectic (Foot Prints, Uma Nota, Shindig, Magnificents 7s) bring their deep 45 crates. Pure dynamite soul & hand clapping funk all night! Make sure to have your dancing shoes on for this one!

Soul Power is ready to turn the heat up a little bit more for the July edition! Starving Artist is proud to have Dj eLman as this months special guest playing all sorts of Latin, Salsa, Cumbia & Reggae vinyl nuggets. Alongside resident Double K with his crazy dose of soul & funk 45s you know this one is going to be hot and sizzling.

DJ eLman specializes in the emerging sounds of Latin America’s underground music scenes. He can be heard hosting the groundbreaking weekly radio show Dos Mundos Radio on CIUT 89.5FM and has opened for ZZK records, Uproot Andy, Toy Selectah, Bajofondo Tango Club, Kumbia Queers, Grupo Fantasma and can be found freaking-up Latin styles at Toronto’s only monthly tropical bass party, Funkété. DJ eLman will be doing a special all vinyl appearance playing gems from his personal collection.

We’re havin’ a “Beach” Party! I put “Beach” in quotations because there is no actual Beach. It’s really one of Toronto’s most unique 50s and 60s theme parties! A night dedicated to rockin’ rhythm & blues 7″ 45s from 1957 to 1967! This month we’re gonna be focusing on the kind of music that yo’ grandparents were dancin’ to on the beaches of Cali and all the other hot surfin’ spots all over the world!

We’ll be giving away free mixed CDs to anyone who shows up in Beachwear! If you’re wearing a Bikini, Bathing Suit, Wrap Skirt, Grass Skirt, Short Shorts, Tank Top, Flip Flops, Sandals and nothing else, you’ll get a free CD! If not, the CD is only $5.00!

We’ll be playin’ Surf Rock, Garage, Soul, Ska and of course Rockin’ Rhythm & Blues 45s all night!

You know I’ve already got Motown’s greatest hits but now I’ve got everything else you could ask for in a Basement Soul Party! Try me. I will play your requests!

This month is the return of the mighty DJ Double K of the Parkdale Funk Show! http://parkdalefunk.com/ He’s the man who can when it comes to digging up amazing tunes on 7″ 45s and he’s bringing them all just for you to dance to!

DJ Caff and the Steppin’ Uptown crew will be upstairs playing the best R&B tunes from the late 80s and early 90s with a focus on New Jack swing so it’ll be a perfect progression from downstairs to upstairs in terms of the evolution of Black American Music!
