f you didn’t show up to last months event then you missed out on the best Soul Power nights! The patios were packed, the drinks were flowing and we even had a visit by our friends from 52 division.

This month I am happy happy to announce Mogpaws as our special guest. Mogpaws is one half of the Simmer Down duo which has been proving Toronto with some amazing nights of soul, funk, Brazilian, Latin and reggae music for two great yea…rs. Good ol’ Mogpaws will be moving base camp to Brazil in a few weeks and shan’t return until Earth has gone fully around the sun once or twice more. So if this is an excuse to party then I don’t know what is!

Simmer Down has been proving Toronto with some amazing nights of soul, funk, Brazilian, Latin and reggae music for two amazing years. The time has come to wrap things up for a while. Ol’ Mogpaws is moving base camp to Brazil and shan’t… return until Earth has gone fully around the sun once or twice more.

In addition to the usual stud-muffins, A mish mash of some of our city’s finest talent from some of your favourite parties will be dropping by with bags of records and such to make sure it’s an evening to remember. We’ll add others as confirmation arrives. Six Degrees has 2 floors and we’ll be on the upper floor (downstairs is a salsa vs reggaeton party)

After constructive feedback, it was determined that the main lacking element to the party was sufficient sound caliber. We’ve chosen Six Degrees as it’s free of police-calling neighbours and endowed with the equipment needed to satisfy the sonically picky. Hoorah!

Downtownians will perhaps think that Eglinton is some remote, distant place that could take months to get to by tall ship…but actually it’s subway accessible and there’s a splendid/convienient upchuck express that can also safely guide you to your place of lodging. So…no excuses!

I’m still riding on the high of last months Soul Power party as it was the best to date! These jams are getting hotter and hotter and this months event will be no exception! Starving Artist is proud to welcome production duo and DJ team Circle Research as their special guest DJs along side resident Double K.

Circle Research are producers, remixers, turntablists and radio hosts. Well-known for their 10 years on CKLN radio, they’re now broadcasting online with the best podcast the interweb has to offer, The Circle Research Show. Nik & Gil have also just recently released their 3rd album, Gardiner Express on the Urbnet label. I’m a little intimidated to be sharing the decks with these two heavy weights to say the least.
