DJ eLman specializes in the emerging sounds of Latin America’s underground music scenes. He can be heard hosting the groundbreaking weekly radio show Dos Mundos Radio on CIUT 89.5FM and has opened for ZZK records, Uproot Andy, Toy Selectah, Bajofondo Tango Club, Kumbia Queers, Grupo Fantasma and can be found freaking-up Latin styles at Toronto’s only monthly tropical bass party, Funkété. DJ eLman will be doing a special all vinyl appearance playing gems from his personal collection.

DJ Gringo has been studying and exploring the roots and origins of modern dance music. He immersed himself into digging for vintage sounds of 60’s and 70’s music. Fall is in full bloom in Toronto. The leaves are about to change colour, the temperature is dropping and everyone is busting out their hoodies. Soul Power is dedicated and ready to turn the heat back on! The October edition promises to be the hottest event with very special guest DJ Catalist!
Catalist aka Alister Johnson is a man of many talents. He’s a superstar producer and currently has a highly successful 45 out now on Bsrtd Boots called “Hot Witness”, the keys player for Grand Analog and a DJ who is one half of the ¡Bom Senso! night at the Tequila Bookworm. Soul Power is very happy to have him grace the Starving Artist.

This man is one half of the Simmer Down team, the man behind the Super Eight parties, a visual artist and one hell of a record collector.
As always there’s no cover, guaranteed good tunes all night, the kitchen will be open late and two great patios to chill out on.
f you didn’t show up to last months event then you missed out on the best Soul Power nights! The patios were packed, the drinks were flowing and we even had a visit by our friends from 52 division.
This month I am happy happy to announce Mogpaws as our special guest. Mogpaws is one half of the Simmer Down duo which has been proving Toronto with some amazing nights of soul, funk, Brazilian, Latin and reggae music for two great yea…rs. Good ol’ Mogpaws will be moving base camp to Brazil in a few weeks and shan’t return until Earth has gone fully around the sun once or twice more. So if this is an excuse to party then I don’t know what is!

I’m still riding on the high of last months Soul Power party as it was the best to date! These jams are getting hotter and hotter and this months event will be no exception! Starving Artist is proud to welcome production duo and DJ team Circle Research as their special guest DJs along side resident Double K.
Circle Research are producers, remixers, turntablists and radio hosts. Well-known for their 10 years on CKLN radio, they’re now broadcasting online with the best podcast the interweb has to offer, The Circle Research Show. Nik & Gil have also just recently released their 3rd album, Gardiner Express on the Urbnet label. I’m a little intimidated to be sharing the decks with these two heavy weights to say the least.
